THERE was plenty of fun for all the family at Artrix last Friday (August 1) when the venue played host to a variety of summer-themed activities, attracting well over 100 people.
As part of the Family Fun Festival Fridays, there was a bouncy castle, craft table and balloon-modelling with popular magician Magic Russ.
All of those events were free and there was also face-painting and a nail bar which organisers said went down really well.
In the morning, youngsters got to make different animal models and masks and paint them and, in the afternoon, there was a paper craft animal workshop and a Jets Ceramic Painting session. Participants could paint a clay model which is now being fired and will be available to collect shortly.
There were also two theatre shows - one from Magic Russ who was accompanied by his ever-faithful Dave the Wonder Dog and Storybox Theatre's spell-binding production of Hans Christian Anderson's The Steadfast Tin Soldier.
Pottery workshops also took place throughout the afternoon for six to nine-year-olds who were able to make their own models to take home and decorate.
And the curtain was brought down on the day with a performance by students who have been taking part in the week-long Rock School workshops.
There are two more Family Fun Festival Fridays left - today (Friday) there are more drop-in activities, including a free bouncy castle and craft table, along with face-painting with pink faces (charges apply), from 10.30am to 3pm.
There are two free dance performances from 2Faced Dance on the patio - at 11.30am and 1pm.
There is also an Urban Dance and Free Running Class from 10am to 11am and graffiti art drop-in sessions at 11am, midday and 1pm. Each session is £5 per person and the Hugless Douglas production will be staged at 2pm. Tickets are £10 (£8 concessions) and booking is essential.
And Club Creative - the children's holiday club has been running all week.
The finale next Friday (August 15), will feature a family dance session, a DJ workshop session for budding disc jockeys aged between ten and 16 and a talent show.
