ALMOST £2,800 was raised for Bipolar UK at a family funday at the Hop Pole in Bromsgrove on Saturday (July 19).

The event was organised by Charlotte Thorn in memory of her late boyfriend Luke Barrett who took his own life after a long-term battle with the condition.

As well as the cash for the charity, Charlotte held the event to raise awareness of Bipolar and the struggles faced by those with it.

Among the activities on the day were entertainment by DJ Ian McManus, a barbecue, a bouncy castle, sponsored by Broad Street DIY, face-painting, games and a raffle which boasted several prizes. They included UK and foreign holidays, vouchers for local businesses and much more.

Charlotte told The Standard: “I was totally overwhelmed on the day by the amount of support generated - I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped organise it, those who donated raffle prizes, those who came along and Peter Hedges at the Hop Pole for hosting it.

Eight regulars from the Hop Pole, including Charlotte, will be doing a daring sponsored skydive on September 7 for the cause.

Anyone wanting to sponser the participants or donate to the charity can call Charlotte on 07979 141382.
