A BROMSGROVE team of two women and three men will be trying to get to Monte Carlo by hook or by crook after entering their sheep-themed car into a charity rally.
Leigh Brecknell, Sam Ward, Samuel Williams, Luka Husbands and Alex McCondichie rose to the challenge of buying a £250 car by finding a 1999 Daihatsu Sirion+. They then, after officially naming it Baabaara, promptly set about giving it a woolly overcoat.
The Bleating on a Prayer team, who will all be dressed as shepherds for the three-day journey, had more than £400 pledged for their chosen charity - Cancer Research UK - as The Standard went to press.
They selected the charity because each of the group has known someone who has had their own cancer battle and chose the theme simply because they all love sheep.
The team travelled to France today (Thursday) and will start the 1,600-mile rally tomorrow (Friday). It runs until Sunday (July 20) and, as well as the task of the driving, there will be a number of Wacky Races style challenges along the way.
Luka told The Standard: “One of us saw the event on the Internet and thought it would be a great opportunity to raise money for a good cause through an event which should be lots of fun to do.
“We have had a great response to the car from people who have seen it - a lot of them have to do a double take.”
