A DAY full of surprises was put on for the headteacher of Stoke Prior First School who has retired after 17 years in the role.
Jan Evans began her career at Frogmill Middle School 36 years ago before teaching at Crown Meadow First School in Alvechurch, Foley Park First School and Nursery in Kidderminster.
She then took over as the head of Stoke Prior and, just last September, the school was judged to be 'outstanding' by Ofsted.
Mrs Evans said, “I have loved working at Stoke Prior, I know each and every child and I have always been ambitious for them.
"They leave Stoke Prior achieving their very best, equipped to navigate along their path through middle school and beyond.
"It has been my privilege to help and guide them and to lead such a fantastic staff team."
She added she would miss the children, her colleagues, the parents and the governors and concluded by wishing the school every success.
The children and staff managed to keep tight-lipped about the day of surprises which took place on Monday (July 21).
“How they kept things secret is amazing, but they did! I have had a wonderful day with very special memories to keep,” added Mrs Evans.
Leigh Satchwell will join the school as the new headteacher in September.
