A CHARITY funday will be held at Bromsgrove’s Hop Pole from 2pm next Sunday (July 19) to raise funds for Bipolar UK.
A variety of activities will take place throughout the afternoon, including a Northern Soul set by DJ Ian McManus, a barbecue, a bouncy castle, sponsored by Broad Street DIY, face-painting, games and a raffle.
Among the prizes will be a three-night weekend break for six people in the South Gower in Wales, a £75 fuel voucher for Murco petrol station in Wychbold, a family photo-shoot and print with Beau Photography and vouchers for massages, nail design sessions and more.
Other organisations which have donated prizes include Avoncroft Museum, Nandos, Partridges the Butchers’ and Mad Hatters Cafe.
There will also be an auction for a half-hour flight in a light aircraft.
The event, organised by Charlotte Thorn in memory of her late boyfriend Luke Barrett who took his own life after a long-term battle with the condition, appealed for help with the event in The Standard a fortnight ago.
She thanked Hop Pole landlord Peter Hedges for hosting the event and said: “The response has been amazing from local businesses and individuals - from giving prizes and donations to people giving up their time to help on the day.
“We want to raise as much money as we can and, most importantly, awareness of Bipolar and the struggles faced by those who suffer with it.”
Raffle tickets are available from the Hop Pole and the Bromsgrove Standard office, 44 High Street.
