A BROMSGROVE driving instructor has had cause for a double celebration after two identical twins he was teaching passed their tests first time in the same week with the same number of minor faults.
David Maguire, who runs First Gear with his dad Carl, contacted The Standard about the feat involving Alex Montroy and his brother Adam who was born just two minutes after him.
But it was Adam who was the first to ditch the L plates as he passed his test two days before Alex - both with three minor faults.
Alex said: "After Adam passed earlier that week it really put the pressure on me, but I passed first time."
David added: "After passing both wanted to know who was the best driver but I said they were both identically good.
"It was a pleasure to get to know and teach two brothers who are the nicest young men you could meet, both took to driving as naturals and it was great that they both passed first time within days of each other."
He concluded by wishing them all the best for the future.
David was recommended to the twins by friends of theirs who also passed first time - after being taught by David's dad Carl.
Mum Angela Russell said, with them taking their tests in the same week, it was a relief they had both passed.
"You know what lads are like - they had been winding each other up about who was the best driver so the result was perfect.
"Although their personalities are very different, they both got good grades at school, both went to uni and now they have both passed their driving tests.
"I'm so proud of them both - we are all over the moon."
