AN ART and crafts exhibition of paintings, drawings, prints, ceramics, textiles, sugarcraft, photographs and calligraphy will go on display in Bromsgrove tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday (July 13).

The collection will be available to view between 10am and 4pm on both days at the Avoncroft Arts Centre.

The event will also feature opportunities for those who go along to decorate a cupcake and have a go at fabric painting.

On the Saturday, there is also a drawing and pencil colouring workship between 10am and 12midday and from 1pm to 3pm. Each session is £3 per person and places are limited so those wanting to take part should call 01527 833829.

On Sunday, there will be a painting demonstration from 10am to 12.30pm and on both days, as part of a wider display to commemorate the outbreak of the First World War, there will the chance to ‘paint a poppy’.

The event has been organised by the Avoncroft Arts Society and, throughout the exhibition, tutors will be on hand to answer any questions and to talk about new classes starting at the centre in September, along with the benefits of becoming an AAS member.

Chairman Tony Turpin said: “Admission is free along with a very warm welcome to all visitors - and it promises to be the best ever.”

* A WILDFLOWER garden on the site which was planted out a few months ago by Joyce Crabtree to commemorate the start of the First World War has attracted much attention over the past few weeks because of its sheer beauty and impressive mixture of colours.

The plot, featuring Flanders poppies and cornflowers, will be available for those who go along to the Avoncroft Arts Exhibitiion to see.
