POLICE are hunting three men who attempted to burgle a Finstall home in broad daylight.

The incident took place around 5pm on Tuesday (June 10) in a home on Dusthouse Lane.

The householder, a man, was in an upstairs room when he heard a loud bang, made from the back door being kicked in.

When he went to investigate he disturbed the intruder at the top of the stairs. The young man was white, between 15 and 18-years-old, about 5ft 5ins, slim and clean shaven. He was also wearing a black top with the hood pulled up over his head and grey tracksuit bottoms.

After being found by the householder, the burglar immediately ran from the house and jumped into a red Peugeot containing two other males before speeding off towards Alcester Road. The only property taken was a door key.

Det Con Paul Lettis, from Redditch CID's burglary team, said officers had been carrying out door to door inquiries and as it happened in broad daylight they were hoping to find someone who saw the burglars either parked up outside the property or speeding off after they had been discovered.

He added: "It's obviously quite a shock to realise someone is breaking in while you are at home but it’s obvious from the burglar's reaction he didn't realise the householder was there.

"The smallest detail could be important so if you saw or know anything at all about this then please pick up the phone and talk to us."

Anyone with any information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
