A CHARITY event is being held at Bromsgrove's Country Girl pub on Saturday (June 21) in a bid to raise enough money to send a woman who has breast cancer to Germany for specialist treatment which could save her life.

Mum Hannah Biggs, 40, who has a five-year-old daughter Lottie, was diagnosed with the disease in December 2012 and went through chemotherapy to treat it. But it returned and is now terminal.

The owner of The Country Girl Maria Drew, who was also diagnosed with breast cancer, became friends with Hannah when they went through treatment together.

She said: "Hannah is on constant chemotherapy to keep the cancer under control but a place in Germany offers treatment that rebuilds the immune system.

"We know other people who have had it and they are okay now.

"We don't know if it will work for Hannah, but this is her last hope."

A total of £6,000 needs to be raised to send Hannah to Germany for the treatment and so far £4,000 has been collected.

Tomorrow's funday, which has been organised by the manager of The Country Girl Stuart Hall and his partner Georgia Wood, starts at 11am and will feature a variety of activities for all the family. They include a barbecue, bouncy castle, a range of stalls, horse-riding, live music and a tombola.

"We want as many people as possible to come down with their family and friends, have a good day out and help raise the money we need for Hannah," added Maria.

Admission is free and anyone wanting to find out more can call Maria on 07973 876612 or the Country Girl on 01527 821790.
