THE FIRST of a series of ‘Music at Lunchtime’ concerts being held in conjunction with the Bromsgrove Festival takes place at Avoncroft Museum’s Guesten Hall at 12midday on Wednesday (June 18).

The performance by the Beorma Vocal Quintet will celebrate Shakespeare’s anniversary with Elizabethan part songs and those who go along will be able to enjoy a light lunch and a glass of wine afterwards.

The following Wednesday (June 25), the well known Dante String Quartet which includes cellist and conductor Richard Jenkinson, will be bringing Haydn and Schubert’s little Quartettsatz.

And on July 2, Bromsgrove clarinettist Alastair Moseley with his daughter Charlotte who plays violin in the Virr String Quartet, will play some of the most popular clarinet quintets ever written – by Mozart and Weber.

The last in the series, on July 9, will be by the Miniature Concert Band which boasts just two players - flautist Hannah Talbot-Cooper and percussionist David Shaw. He will play a variety of instruments with great panache and musicianship. Their programme will include music from Bach to Bolero, from Latin music to military marches, as well as music to mark the centenary of the beginning of the Great War.

Tickets, including food and wine, are £10.50 and are available in person from Artrix’s box office, from www.artrix.co.uk or by calling 01527 577330.

BLACKWELL Concert Band’s performance in the town centre will now be among the market stalls near Bromsgrove’s Asda between 11am and 11.15am tomorrow (Saturday).

The group was due to perform on the High Street but, having assessed the situation with regard to the roadworks, members have opted to play near the Asda entrance instead.
