A BROMSGROVE woman has expressed her delight after being reunited with her Eurasian kestrel.

We reported on Tuesday (June 2) how Willow had gone missing from her garden in Marlbrook on Monday evening whilst she was tethered to a 50ft rope.

Owner Wendy Williams had gone into the house after doing some gardening and when she returned the bird had gone.

Because 14-month-old Willow was so tame, Wendy feared she would not be able to survive in the wild.

And because there was no damage to the rope, which was tied in a triple knot, she was concerned that someone may have taken her.

She posted the picture on our Facebook page and we called her to get more information before running a story on our website.

A man living a few doors down from Wendy's in Birmingham Road, had spotted the kestrel in his garden on Wednesday and contacted his brother Simon Vickers.

He went round to see the bird and recognised her from our article.

After getting the story back up to get Wendy's number, he called her and she was reunited with Willow.

Wendy told The Standard: "I couldn't believe it - I had hardly slept since Willow went missing.

"I'm so glad to have her back - I can't thank Simon, his brother and The Standard enough for helping me find her."

She said Willow had lost a considerable amount of weight and had been quiet and subdued since coming home, but other than that she was fine.

And she gave Simon some money to get himself a celebratory bottle of wine to thank him for finding her.
