A MAN suffered a broken nose and fractured cheekbone in an unprovoked assault in Bromsgrove in the early hours of Sunday morning (May 18).
The incident, which happened at 3.15am near to Travis Perkins on the Birmingham Road, involved a 21-year-old who had just been dropped off by a taxi after a night out. The attack was carried out by a man who was walking with two women.
As the victim crossed the road at the junction of All Saints Road, he was verbally challenged by the man with the women but he continued on his way.
He then heard footsteps and was grabbed by the throat by the attacker who headbutted him and punched him several times, leaving him on thee floor.
One of the women tried to help the victim.
He then went home and then onto hospital where the extent of his injuries were realised.
The attacker was white, aged about 20, and around 5ft 11ins tall. He was slim with black hair and was wearing grey cotton tracksuit bottoms, a dark long-sleeved top and a grey or black baseball cap.
The woman who tried to help the victim was white, about 5ft 6ins tall and slim. She had long blonde hair worn in a ponytail and was possibly wearing a pink top.
Appealing for information, investigating officer Det Sgt Steve Cook said it was an unprovoked attack which left a man with some nasty injuries.
He added he would like to hear from anyone who either saw the incident or knew who was responsible.
“We are appealing for help to identify him or the women with him although we would stress they were not involved in the assault.
"In fact afterwards one of the women tried to help the victim so they have nothing to fear by coming forward to talk to us.”
Any witnesses or anyone with any information should call North Worcestershire CID at Kidderminster Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
