THE FAMILY of 17-year-old Samuel Chambers who died after being in collision with a car last Tuesday (May 13) said his death has left a massive void in the lives of so many - from his family and friends to his work colleagues.

And they said they had been so touched by the overwhelming display of flowers and messages at the scene of the incident.

The statement said: “It is evident by the hundreds of messages, flowers, and heart felt tributes that Sam was no ordinary teenager.

"His unique and devilish sense of humour, coupled with his impeccable manners, meant that he was adored by everybody - both young and old.

“Sam was a most skillful skateboarder, and could often be spotted around Bromsgrove or going to and from work on his cherished skateboard."

They concluded by thanking anybody who assisted at the scene of Sam's death.

The trainee chef suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, which happened about 10.20pm at the traffic lights at the junction of the A38 and New Road and involved a Toyota Avensis.

Sam, who was on his way to his girlfriend's house on his much-loved skateboard, was a former pupil of Lickey, Waseley and South Bromsgrove High schools.

He was also a student at Bournville College for a short time before becoming a trainee chef at the Bromsgrove Harvester restaurant, where he was a well-loved team member.

Witnesses or anyone with any information should call PC Sarah Skelding on 101.
