A BROMSGROVE charity which has raised more than £50,000 for neo-natal units across the Midlands is holding a 'Wear it PINK for Libby Day' on Friday (April 25).
Richard and Charlotte Sharratt, from Cathill, officially registered Libby Mae's Little Angels as a charity last July in memory of their baby daughter who passed away at two-weeks-old in May, 2013.
The special pink day has been organised to celebrate the success of the charity and Libby Mae's first birthday, which would have been on Saturday (April 26).
Blues and Scotland winger Chris Burke, the charity’s ambassador, will be joining his city team-mates along with Free Radio’s Jo and Sparky and the Birmingham Library which will be lighting its building pink for the day.
A number of companies, both independent and corporate businesses, including 11 Nando's restaurants, local nurseries, schools, groups and even the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, have shown their support of the day.
Residents have been encouraged to take part too by wearing something pink and sending a picture in with a donation to the charity.
The couple marked their daughter's birthday by presenting a cheque of £35,000 to Birmingham Women's Hospital, the place where their little girl was born and cared for while she was alive.
The money was used to buy a new ventilator - equipment vital on the neo-natal ward and a desperately-needed new transport incubator to serve the entire region.
Richard and Charlotte said: "We want to continue raising awareness and money to save the lives of even more babies in our region.
"We are so excited and proud of what we, as grieving parents, have achieved and would love to be able to tell everyone about our work.
"We are just a normal couple who, out of tragic circumstances, have created an amazing legacy for our late daughter and a charity which will help save other babies."
