THE ORIGINAL winner of X Factor will be stopping off in Bromsgrove on Saturday (May 3) to perform his brand new album Forgotten Man.
Soul singer Steve Brookstein, who won the popular entertainment show in 2004 with six million votes in one night, has been readying himself for a special one-stop acoustic show at Artrix with what he called his 'best work yet'.
During the night, the 45-year-old musician who is well-known for his cover tracks, originally performed by classic soul artists like Luther Vandross, Al Green and George Benson, will be taking the stage with his guitarist Luca Boscagin.
During the evening, the duo will be performing a mix of Steve's own work and some classic soul cover songs from artists such as The Spinners, The Temptations and The Stylistics.
Forgotton Man, which was completely funded by Steve's fans, is the first album he has released in the last seven years - his debut single, which was a cover version of Phil Collins' Against All Odds, reached number one in the charts.
Steve told the Standard he was looking forward to playing at Artrix and getting a feel for what audiences thought of his latest work.
He added: "I really enjoy going out and doing this especially because everyone who is there wants to be there - it will be nice to play for an audience who all want to be there simply because they enjoy listening to soul.
"I haven't really done a gig in this area so it will be interesting to see what people are like - it is a case of reintroducing people back into the type of music I will be producing."
Tickets for the show, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £15. To book tickets, visit www.artrix.co.uk or call Artrix's box office on 01527 577330. Log on to www.stevebrookstein.com for more information.
