RESIDENTS have been warned to review their home security after two attempted burglaries within days of each other.

A house in King Edward Road, Sidemoor was targeted in the first incident some time between 8.45am on Monday (April 21) and 10.30am on Thursday (April 24).

It is believed burglars used a wooden gate to the side of the house and then attempted to gain access by levering open a ground floor, wooden window frame before trying the rear door.

In the second incident offenders got into the rear garden of a home on Redditch Road, in Stoke Heath, between 11.55pm on Tuesday (April 22) and 12.05am on Wednesday (April 23).

An attempt was made to force open two windows and the property's back and front doors before they were disturbed by a resident turning a light on. It is believed they also gained access to the back of the house through an unlocked gate.

Det Con Paul Lettis, from West Mercia Police, said: "Luckily both of these attempted burglaries were unsuccessful, but they demonstrate the importance of preventing access being gained to the rear of a property where possible.

"As well as securing side gates, other steps could include planting prickly shrubs along boundaries and ensuring sheds are kept secure to prevent burglars using a householder's own tools to break in."

Witnesses or anyone with any information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
