Council chamber to be extended for Whitford Road planning debate

BROMSGROVE District Council will extend the council chamber for Monday's Planning Committee meeting during which a decision will be taken on the Whitford Road development.

Because of the high interest in the outline proposal for 490 homes, the internal wall usually used will be moved to the side to give the room the capacity for 125 people.

The meeting starts at 6pm and the application will be the first item on the agenda to be discussed.

Because of that and because of the time it is estimated the discussions will take, it is anticipated the rest of the business on that evening will not begin until 7.30pm.

People interested in the rest of the applications are being asked not to arrive until that time.

A Bromsgrove District Council spokesperson said seating for the first item would be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

"Should more people come on the night than can be legally accommodated, they will not be able to come into the meeting.

"Members of the public are asked to understand the restrictions that are placed on the council but be assured officers are doing all they can to maximise the chance to hear the committee’s discussion," she added.
