Assault gets Rednal woman anti-social behaviour injunction

AN ABUSIVE council tenant from Rednal has received an 18-month Anti-Social Behaviour Injunction after aggressive and confrontational behaviour.

The final straw was when Meegan Jones, 24, of Ringwood Drive, knocked a Birmingham City Council staff member to the ground and physically assaulted her after a fracas.

The injunction, granted on Wednesday (April 16) at Birmingham County Court, prevents Jones from entering the Bartley Green Neighbourhood Office without an appointment by the city council.

It also prohibits her from behaving in a manner capable of causing nuisance and annoyance to council employees or contractors lawfully engaging in housing management functions.

Any breaches can lead to Jones being arrested.

This injunction comes after an interim one was served against Jones on November 27 last year - she breached the order by driving in an aggressive manner towards Birmingham City Council employees.

Jones was aggressive and confrontational to council staff on numerous occasions and, despite warnings, her behaviour continued and escalated.

Welcoming the court's decision, Coun Jame McKay, cabinet member for a green, safe and smart city, said the authority would do everything in its power to ensure communities remained safe places for people to live and work in.

"Birmingham City Council will always take a stand against anti-social behaviour and individuals who believe they can harass and treat our staff in this appalling manner," he added.

The council's housing transformation service director Rob James said: "This injunction demonstrates support from the Courts in protecting our staff from this sort of behaviour.

"Despite previous warnings the aggression continued so we had no alternative but to take legal action."

Residents wanting to report anti-social behaviour should call West Midlands Police on 101, or Birmingham City Council on 0121 303 1111.
