THERE will be a celebration of cars built at Longbridge over the last century on Saturday (April 12).

Hundreds of visitors are expected to descend on Cofton Park for the Pride of Longbridge (POL) Rally, which runs from 10am to 3pm.

The event, which started in 2006 when MG Rover collapsed and is now in its ninth year, brings together the community, enthusiasts and ex and present workers at the site.

As well as a variety of cars, including Austins, Rovers, minis and MGs, the event will be bigger and better than ever this year, featuring a host of activities for all the family, including bouncy castles, face-painting and a small craft fayre.

There will also be a Longbridge art project people to get involved in and former workers at the factory will have the chance to tell their story so it can be recorded in a planned Pride of Longbridge book.

Pride of Longbridge organiser Gemma Cartwright thanked Steve Turner for his assistance in running the Facebook group which has helped get the word out.

She said: "I could never have believed back in 2006 how POL would grow.

"I have made many great partnerships and am pleased to say the Austin Federation helps organise the event which is sponsored by MG UK."
