Police appeal after arson at Bromsgrove's old DDS&S Club

BROMSGROVE fire crews were called out twice in the space of a few hours on Wednesday morning (April 9).

The first incident which involved four wheeled bins, a tree and a hedge row happened at about 10.30am - one fire engine attended and used one hose reel to put the fire out.

Two engines were then called to a fire on the ground floor of the old DDS&S building, on the Stourbridge Road, where a combination of sofas and chairs had been set alight and damaged the furniture, doors and the ceiling in the property.

Crews used two breathing apparatuses and one hose reel to put the fire out and damp down the area.

Police were called by fire service to the DDS&S building at about 12midday and have confirmed officers are treating the incidents as arson.

"It is believed those responsible climbed over a 6ft fence and started the fire," added a spokesperson.
