THE NORTH Worcestershire Basement Project which provides a daytime drop-in service and outreach support service for young people who are homeless or facing homelessness has been given a £3272.62 cash boost from Basepoint Bromsgrove.

The cash was raised from a number of charity activities, including supermarket bag packs, church events, quiz nights and open events held by volunteers and community groups as part of the National Garden Scheme.

The Basement Project, based in Worcester Road, Bromsgrove, is run by qualified youth workers, supported by volunteers.

Grant-making charity The ACT Foundation, which is dedicated to improve the lives of those in need, owns the Basepoint Centres.

It will match funding, up to the value of £10,000, raised by any of the Basepoint centres.

Elaine Beaumont, Basepoint Bromsgrove’s centre manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to present this cheque to The Basement Project. It is fantastic opportunity to support a local charity and work alongside the local community to help raise funds for such a worthy cause.”

Carole Hill, the Basement Project's finance and administration manager, said: "We are grateful to Basepoint for their continued support over the years."
