STAFF at Bromsgrove’s Life After Stroke Centre, on Church Lane, celebrated the opening of their newest addition on Monday (March 24).

The recently refurbished Edith Murphy House, named after the foundation which provided the funding for the project, will provide an extra range of resources for all of its members.

The venue, formerly known as the White House building, now has an arts and crafts room, quiet room, social room and a large meeting room, which can also be used for health and wellbeing activities like Tai Chi and fitness.

The first floor of the building has also been transformed into a multi-media centre with a state-of-the-art recording and editing studio capable of producing films and multi-media productions.

The films made there will help to show the experiences of stroke survivors and the support the charity can provide for people across the country.

During the day, Rita Upton, stroke survivor and volunteer at the centre, thanked the Edith Murphy Foundation on behalf of all the survivors who would benefit from it’s generous donation.

Jon Barrick, the Stroke Association’s chief executive, also gave the building’s trustees a guided tour to see the wonderful facility they had helped to create.

Mr Barrick said: “The new facilities within Edith Murphy House have provided us with the opportunity to develop and extend our Life After Stroke activities programme, which will benefit more stroke survivors in the area.”
