THE Bromsgrove Fairtrade Fair will take place at the town’s Methodist Centre, Stratford Road, opposite the library next Saturday (April 5).

The event, from 10am to 1.30pm, is a first for Bromsgrove and comes just in time for Easter.

During the day, a variety of Fairtrade goods will be on offer, including Easter eggs, hats, African textiles, olive oil, jewellery and more. None of these items are usually available in Bromsgrove.

There will also be an informative display in the library between now and during the fair and the Green Ape Man will be on hand next Saturday with his pedal-powered Fairtrade smoothie making bike. The first 50 smoothies on the day will be free.

Ahead of the fair, local schoolchildren took part in a competition to design a poster to promote buying Fairtrade products. The winner was nine-year-old Callum Stone from Sidemoor First School.

He was presented with his prize - a Fairtrade hamper - at Bromsgrove Library by Art Lavelle from the Fairtrade Bromsgrove Steering Group.

The Standard has always supported the Fairtrade Bromsgrove movement and the winner of the poster competition was chosen by editor Tristan Harris.
