A MUM whose son has epilepsy is holding a purple day in Bromsgrove on Tuesday (March 25).

The event, organised by Sharon Crofts, is taking place at St Peter's Community Centre from 9.30am to 11.30am. Those who go along are urged to wear something purple as part of Epilepsy Action's nationwide Purple Day campaign.

Sharon's son Louis was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2008 when he was just 15 months old after an episode of viral meningoencephalitis - a bleed on the brain - five months earlier.

She said: "It was a very difficult time for all the family and we’re really pleased that his medication is now controlling his seizures.

"All money raised will help fund the vital advice and information services provided by the charity Epilepsy Action."

Everyone is welcome to for a hot drink, cake or biscuit - available for a small donation - and a chat, while there will be toys and colouring available for children.

As well as raising funds, it is hoped the day will raise awareness of both the condition and the vital advice and information services provided by the charity.
