RESIDENTS have been dusting off their running shoes ready for the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile events being held around Bromsgrove on March 23.
The team at the Ryland Centre has organised a special fun day with entertainment and activities for the whole family to enjoy while they raise money for the good cause.
People are being encouraged to run, walk, jog and push pushchairs or wheelchairs around the centre’s athletics track and win a sport relief medal.
One mile runs will start at 10.45am and 11am while three and six mile runs will start at 11.30am.
Matt Hill, the Ryland Centre’s activity development officer, added: “Let’s don the headband, get training and show the rest of the country what we can do.”
In Barnt Green, mums, dads and youngsters have also been invited to take part in an event being held at the village’s Millennium Park where they can take part in one, three or six mile route around the village.
The day will delivered by volunteers from the Barnt Green Chuggers.
Coun Charles Hotham said in 2012, the Barnt Green Mile had more than 200 participants and raised more than £5,000.
“This year we want even more of you to get involved. There will be something for everyone on what looks set to be a great day, so don’t forget to rope in your mates, family, boyfriend, girlfriend and colleagues too and get training.
“Dressing up for the occasion is positively encouraged.”
