FINES are set to be enforced for drivers parking incorrectly at the Alexandra Hospital from today (Friday).
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the Woodrow Drive site, is set to start enforcing existing parking restrictions but say they have not introduced any additional measures.
A spokeswoman said: “There are no changes to car parking at the Alexandra Hospital, however we will be starting to enforce existing restrictions soon.
“Patients and visitors must park in the visitor pay-on-foot car park. Anyone parked in staff essential parking spaces, for example near pharmacy or A&E, will receive a parking fine.”
She added they had not yet issued fines until today but had been placing notices on cars parked incorrectly and said signs had been put up on the site.
Regular visitor John Adams added: “I know they have problems with parking, especially around peak times, however trying to issue parking charge notices is not the answer.
“We are talking about a hospital here which people visit who are ill, visit loved ones and visitors from outside the area who are already distressed, to find they have this to contend with is asking for trouble.”
“There are ways around this however parking issues do not go away they just get moved on.
“It would be nice to introduce free parking after 6pm and all weekend to encourage relatives and friends to help the hospital and visit more often.”
