Schools across Bromsgrove to battle it out in debating contest tonight

SCHOOLS across Bromsgrove district will battle it out tonight (Friday) in MP Sajid Javid's annual schools debating competition.

Everyone is welcome to come and watch the event for free - it takes place at 6.30pm at South Bromsgrove High School.

Among the schools taking part are North Bromsgrove, South Bromsgrove, Bromsgrove School, Hagley High, Woodrush, Haybridge High and Waseley.

South Bromsgrove High are the reigning champions after beating Woodrush in last year's final.

There is a variety of motions, including 'This house believes that Britain should leave the EU', ' This house believes England should have a referendum on leaving the UK' and 'This house believes that the speed limit on British motorways be increased to 80mph'.

There will be a collection for The Primrose Hospice at the end of the evening.
