A DRIVER in Hollywood had a lucky escape after a tree caught by high winds fell on his car.

The man, in his 50s, had to be cut from his vehicle, following the incident which happened about 7.15pm last night (Friday) in Truemans Heath Lane.

After the tree fell on the vehicle, the car left the carriageway and ended up in a nearby garden, with significant damage to its front end and roof.

Once he had been cut from the car, the man was treated at the scene for minor cuts and bruising and, after being immobilised and given pain relief, he was taken to Redditch's Alexandra Hospital for further assessment and treatment.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed a paramedic area support officer and the Trust’s MERIT rapid response vehicle, carrying a critical care paramedic and a trauma doctor, were sent to the scene.
