MORE than 40 employers from across Birmingham will be exhibiting at a jobs fair being held at Bournville College in Longbridge between 10am and 3pm a week on Friday (February 21).

The event has been organised by Northfield MP Richard Burden as part of The Climb Project.

That was launched by Mr Burden in July last year to bring the local community and businesses together in a bid to build a new economic future for the area.

Mr Burden said: "It’s hugely exciting that the ‘Climb Vision’, to boost aspiration and opportunity in this part of Birmingham, has led to a major new jobs fair for our area.

"Times are tough for a lot of people here at the moment, and long term unemployment is a real problem.

"But South Birmingham has huge potential – a proud manufacturing heritage, the new £1billion redevelopment project at Longbridge, and exciting community projects are all just the beginning of our economic revival."

He added he hoped a lot of people would go to the college and see what great opportunities were available.

Among the employers will be firms involved with The Climb Project, including MG Motor, ADI Total Engineered Solutions and Mechatronic Solutions.

There will also be advice, guidance and workshops on employment and skills at the event, which has been organised in conjunction with Birmingham City Council’s Employment Access Team, Bournville College, the Department for Work and Pensions and the National Apprenticeship Service.
