THE BODY of a badly composed dog has been found in a suitcase in Longbridge.
The grim discovery was made on Saturday (January 25) by a member of the public who found the package next to a stream near the Austin Social Club, Tessall Lane.
The dog had been wrapped in a blanket and then put into two plastic bags and the body was so decomposed that it would be impossible to carry out a post mortem on it.
It was a brindle and white medium-sized dog and the suitcase it was in was a large dark family-sized one.
The RSPCA is now carrying out an investigation in a bid to find out what happened.
RSPCA inspector Susie Payne said: “There are concerns that there is a chance this dog could have been put in the water alive – as it is suspicious that someone would want to dispose of an already dead animal in this way.
“It is difficult to establish the cause of this dog’s death because the body was so badly decomposed - it is likely the dog could have been there a few weeks."
She urged anyone with any information to call the appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
