A TELESCOPE workshop is being held by Bromsgrove Astronomical Society on Monday (February 3).

The event is aimed at providing people with help and advice on how to make the most of their telescope - whether it is a new one they have had for Christmas or one they have got out of the attic or garage.

The event is taking place at Bromsgrove Rugby Club at 7.45pm and follows on from the successful open night organised by the society as part of the BBC's Stargazing Live.

Despite the cloudy conditions, more than 50 visitors turned out to see an impressive exhibition of astronomical photos, displays, telescopes and even some meteorites. Those who went along ranged from absolute beginners to budding astrophotographers.

There were also two short talks on the night about the society's activities and things to see in the spring sky.

Bromsgrove Astronomical Society's chairman Rob Januszewski said “The open night was a great success as new members signed up, looking forward to the events planned for 2014."
