FAMILIES in Bromsgrove and Rubery will be seeing improvements start to their local areas in the next few weeks.

The upgrades to the three parks in Rubery, Marlbrook and Aston Fields have been designed with the help of local children and adults and will cost around £208,000.

The improvements will include a wide range of new play equipment, landscaping and planting, safety surfacing, pathways, benches, litter bins and other associated works.

Work by Bromsgrove District Council got underway at Rubery's St Chads Park on Monday (January 27), Aston Fields Play Area's revamp is due to start on February 10 and the area on Braces Lane, Marlbrook, on February 24.

Coun Michael Webb, responsible for leisure services, said: "I am delighted to unveil these extensive improvements to three parks.

"When you look at the parks we’ve upgraded recently, it’s no wonder kids love them so much.

"The quality of modern play equipment is amazing especially when you consider what we had just a generation ago."

The council intends to continue working towards improving and maintaining the district’s other 70 plus parks and open spaces as well.
