MORE than 70 people were involved in a mass brawl in Bromsgrove town centre in the early hours of Christmas Day.

A police dog was kicked during the fracas which took place behind the town's Dog and Pheasant pub, Worcester Road, at 2am on December 25.

Two people, arrested for being drunk and disorderly, were given on-the-spot fines.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said a lot of people were drunk and were either fighting or trying to fight and it was then the police dogs were sent in.

A post on Twitter by North Worcestershire Police about the 'large scale disorder' and the attack on the police dog prompted tweets from residents.

The force tweeted back: "Thanks for your kind words and concern for our police dog.

"Happy to report PD Crash is fine and most likely enjoying a Christmas dinner."
