STUDENTS from North Bromsgrove High School are now preparing to compete for a place in the world finals at the VEX National Championship robotics competition.

It comes after two teams, 5119 and 5119z, made up of Liam Grazier, James Jarvis, George Freeman and Joel Hirons went through for the third year in a row, from the Worcestershire Regional Qualifier.

The young lads will be competing at The Big Bang Fair UK at the NEC in March and are hoping this will finally be the year they make it through to the world championships, which will be held in California this April.

Liam Grazier, team captain for 5119z, said: "This season has been the best by far, we have qualified very early and have defeated teams from all over the UK already, and because of funding from KUKA robotics we have been able to expand the robotics programme at North Bromsgrove to three teams.

"We are currently planning on attending two more events before the nationals to ensure we are completely prepared for the battle ahead of us."
