STUDENTS and teachers at Bromsgrove School welcomed back, ex-student, Matthew Taylor to thank him for his generosity.

In July, last year, Mr Taylor responded to the Foundation Telephone Campaign to help provide funding for a new observatory and astronomy equipment for the school.

Thanks to his donation, work to build the new observatory can now begin.

It is hoped it will be ready to be unveiled at the school’s annual Commemoration Day in July.

Mr Taylor said: "I had always intended to give something back to the School and was delighted when this project came up.

"Inspiration is part of the essence of education and since ancient times the heavens have been a wonderful source of it."
