TWO parents across Bromsgrove District brought in the new year by welcoming their newborns into the world on the very first day of 2014.
A total of five babies - three boys and two girls - were born at the Alexandra Hospital on Wednesday (January 1).
Those welcoming their bundle of joys included Catshill couple Ed and Amy after baby Freddy James Lang arrived at 3.08pm.
He is the pair’s first baby and was here on his expected due to date, weighing 8lb exactly.
“He was spot on his due date and arrived right on time, I couldn’t believe it.
“We had a Chinese takeaway on New Year’s Eve and we were talking about whether he would come on time and we just didn’t expect it.
“It is a great way to start the New Year,” said Ed.
Following in his footsteps was Wythall baby Noah Jaiden Russell who came into the world three days late at 12.55pm, weighing 8lb 12.5oz.
He was welcomed by mom Leanne, dad Alan and sister Lydia who will be four on Saturday (January 4).
Leanne said: “It is quite a big deal for all of us.
“At first I wasn’t bothered if we had a boy or a girl, but now we have one of each which is always lovely.”
