A MAN has died after a collision with three vehicles on the Bromsgrove Highway on Saturday morning (December 14).
The incident, which happened on the A448 at around 6am, saw the man in collision with an Audi A3 being driven by a Bromsgrove man. He was then in collision with a purple Citroen Picasso driven by a Redditch man and a black Vauxhall Zafira driven by a Wolverhampton man.
He was confirmed dead at the scene and, although he has not been formally identified, it is believed he is a Bromsgrove man in his 40s.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said the MERIT rapid response vehicle, carrying a critical care paramedic and a trauma doctor, were sent to the scene, but nothing could be done.
"Crews were called to reports of a car and a pedestrian that had been in collision.
"Sadly on arrival at the scene it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save the pedestrian, and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
PC Jim Southan of West Mercia Police said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died.
"Tragedies like this are always especially poignant right before Christmas, and they are being assisted by a specially trained family liaison officer.
“It is vital to find out exactly what happened and a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the collision has been launched."
The Audi sustained extensive damage and the other two vehicles sustained minor damage and the road was closed until 3pm on Saturday.
Any witnesses or anyone with any information should call the force's operations support team at Rubery Police Station on 101, quoting incident 164-s-141213.
