THERE will be plenty of festive fun for residents of Bromsgrove's Oakalls and Parklands estates on Sunday (December 22) when the annual Christmas event takes place.

It will begin with the carrying of lanterns and glow sticks to the green by Trianon Road for 6.30pm.

There, the Primrose Choir will sing traditional carols and there will be seasonal refreshments available, including mulled cider, mince pies and soft drinks.

And, as a special treat for the youngsters, Bromsgrove Round Table's Santa is also scheduled to arrive just before 7pm.

The event, which started back in 2011, has been organised this year by councillors Caroline Spencer and Rod Laight.

It was feared it may not take place as the previous organisers could not get involved as they had work commitments, but the councillors stepped in.

Coun Spencer said: "The Christmas carols are a wonderful opportunity to bring the whole Oakalls community together.

"I knew if we had to cancel this year it would be so much harder to resurrect next year.”

Coun Laight added the planning took time and commitment as a variety of organisations had to be contacted, paperwork had to be done and highways approval had to be sought to close a small section from Davenham Road to the junction of Royal Worcester Crescent and Regents Park Road, to ensure the safety of attendees.
