REDNAL pensioners enjoyed a festive five-course complimentary dinner at the Coppice Pub.

For over a decade landlady Jan Jones has been organising cracking pensioners’ parties which leave smiles on all the guests’ faces.

Each attendee is promised a good time, a festive dinner, two complimentary drinks and a small present to leave with - all paid for by the owner.

Mrs Jones used to invite locals, who had nowhere to go at Christmas, to her own home for dinner.

But as the years went on and the party got bigger and bigger so Mrs Jones decided to host a special event at her pub.

She said: “The girls work really hard and it’s lovely to be able to do this for the community.”

Robert Whitehouse, a guest at the meal, said: “I have used this pub for 50 years and have lived in Rednal for 70 years and have had Christmas dinners here many a time.

“Janice is one of the best gaffers I have ever seen here and I have seen a few.

“It’s always been a fantastic do and I have always enjoyed myself.”
