RESIDENTS across Bromsgrove are being urged to join a public panel to have their say on the future of the cemeteries and bereavement services across the district.

The 30 people chosen will take part in a half-day consultation on December 10 which will start with an introduction to the cemeteries and nearby facilities before discussions take place about the existing services and how they could be improved.

Redditch Crematorium will be another item on the panel's agenda as it is used a lot by Bromsgrove residents.

The feedback gathered will be put with other information as part of a review into bereavement services - a shared service with neighbouring Redditch Borough Council.

A similar half-day of discussions is being held on December 12 for groups with an interest in bereavement services, such as religious organisations and funeral directors. And there is one specifically for Redditch residents on their bereavement services.

Bromsgrove District Councillor Michael Webb, who is responsible for environmental services, said: “The panel sessions will be a real opportunity for people’s thoughts and ideas on our cemeteries, both old and new, to come to the fore. I would encourage anyone that wants to get involved to get in touch.”

The council's head of environmental services Guy Revans added: “Feedback is such an important part of our management process.

"Understanding the way people see their cemeteries and related services is a crucial part of ensuring the services we provide in the area are what our customers want and need.”

Those residents or groups wanting to find out more or book a place at either of the sessions should call Ian Gregory or Sharron Kibble on 01527 62174.

Redditch Crematorium is also holding an open day next Sunday (December 8) for anyone who wants to look around the venue and its facilities.
