So much festive fun going on across Bromsgrove

THERE IS so much festive fun taking place across Bromsgrove district over the next few weeks.

Here is a seasonal selection detailing some of the events.

► A CHRISTMAS craft fair is being held at Rubery Community and Leisure Centre, Holywell Lane, on Saturday (December 7).

The event, between 10am and 3pm, will feature a variety of stalls selling items which would make ideal festive gifts.

Among them will be jewellery and cupcakes.

► AN INTIMATE classical music performance by The Midland Sinfonia will take place at St Laurence Church in Alvechurch, on Saturday (December 7).

The event, featuring pieces from Mozart, Pachelbel, Purcell, Delius and Schumann, will start at 7.30pm

Tickets are £13 on the door, £12 in advance, £5 for full-time students and children are free when accompanied by an adult.

► A CHRISTMAS line dance is being held in the town onSaturday (December 7).

The BJ’s Busy Boots’ event will take place from 7.30pm at All Saints Church Hall, Burcot Lane.

Brenda Whipp from BJ’s has now been teaching line dancing for 16 years and the event next Saturday will be a chance for those enjoying the classes now and those who have been to them in the past to meet up for a celebration.

Dancers of all abilities are welcome to the event and those who go along are urged to wear some comfortable shoes.

Spectators are also welcome.

Admission is £4 for dancers and £1 for those watching.

► BROMSGROVE residents are invited to attend a special Christmas fayre being held in Bournheath Village Hall on Saturday (December 7) .

There will be variety of stalls selling a whole range of potential presents, products and crafts suitable for all ages.

Local residents have organised a tombola to give visitors the chance to winning some Christmas-themed prizes and there will also be plenty of cakes and candy-floss available.

It will take place at the Claypit Lane venue from 10.40am to 2.30pm.

► A FESTIVE family fun day is being held at Reaside Community Centre in Rubery between 12midday and 3pm on Saturday (December 7).

The event, at the Ormond Road venue will feature a tabletop sale, tombola and other activities for all ages.

► RESIDENTS still have the chance to don that red suit and take part in the Primrose Hospice's Santa Dash around Redditch town centre this Sunday (December 8).

The event, at 10am, challenges participants to run a mile-long route around the centre as many times as they can.

Entry is £12 for adults, which includes a free Santa suit, and £5 for under-12s which includes a free Santa hat. There is also a family ticket for £30 for two adults and up to two children.

► THE ROYAL Opera House production of The Nutcracker will be screened live at Rubery's Empire Cinema at 7.15pm on Thursday (December 12).

The seasonal story begins on Christmas Eve as the family decorates the tree and the children wait for Christmas Day. Clara and Fritz's Godfather brings gifts, including a Nutcracker doll.

The children, magically transported into The Kingdom of Sweets, see the Sugar Plum Fairy with her handsome Prince and her glittering court in a series of dazzling dances.

The night also includes a magically growing Christmas tree and a midnight battle of toy soldiers.

► THE DROITWICH Royal British Legion Club will play host to the Christmas Big Band Swing Concert next Friday (December 13).

The event starts at 8pm, with the music being performed by the Worcestershire Jazz Orchestra.

Tickets are £6 on the door and hot and cold snacks are available, along with real ale, which is being provided by The Cannon Royal Brewery.

► THERE will be plenty of festive fun at Bromsgrove Library next Saturday (December 14) when there will be Christmas storytelling sessions and craft activities.

The free events take place between 10am and 12midday and from 2pm to 3pm on that day.

Participants can listen to a seasonal story and make their own Christmas puppets.

The activities are suitable for children of all ages and those under eight need to be accompanied by an adult.

Everyone is welcome to the event, which takes place around the Christmas tree at Stoke Heath Recreation Ground.
