A GANG of masked robbers broke into a Belbroughton home armed with crowbars and hammers and tied up a couple, before stealing cash, mobile phones, jewellery and their three cars.

Three robbers, who were wearing balaclavas, forced their way into the property on Hartle Lane at around 8.45pm yesterday (Thursday), while the couple were in bed watching television.

The man and woman, who are in their 30s, were left on the floor with their hands tied behind their backs with cable ties until the woman managed to free her hands and then release her partner.

The woman hurt her wrists and the man was left with facial injuries from being hit.

A black Land Rover Discovery, with the registration plate G11 ESG, a grey Audi A3 convertible, with registration plate KU09 FKO, and a blue Ford Fiesta, with registration plate PK5 5XYF, were all stolen from the home and have not yet been recovered.

Police have conducted house to house enquiries and are keen to find out whether the robbers arrived on foot or in a vehicle.

The couple said the gang was only there for a few minutes but, because of the ordeal they had been put through, it felt like an hour.

Det Insp Dean Jones, from West Mercia Police, said: "We believe it is likely they were in a vehicle driven by an accomplice and are keen to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious from about 8pm onwards, including anyone who may have noticed the stolen vehicles leaving Hartle Lane, possibly on to the A491 Stourbridge Road.

"Incidents of this nature are very rare and police patrols in the area have been increased as a reassurance measure."

Any witneeses or anyone with any information should call the police on 0300 333 3000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
