MORE than £800 was raised in honour of a teen who sadly lost his battle with cancer just days later.
Jellybabies Nursery, based at Rubery and Longbridge Methodist Church, raised £834 for Children with Cancer UK through a week-long event in honour of 13-year-old Jay Demetriou.
The teen, who was in hospital at the time, posted a Facebook message before he died to thank them for their fund-raising.
Around 200 people joined in the week, buying homemade cakes, books, cards and toys as well as 70 Team Jay bracelets and keyrings.
Manager Jacqueline Walker said: “I think it really made a lot to him that people cared.”
