BROMSGROVE IT engineer Philip Base has embarked on a trek across the Sahara Desert to raise funds for Marie Curie’s West Midlands Hospice in Solihull.
Starting out yesterday (Sunday) from southern Morocco and climbing the sand dunes of the world’s hottest desert he is hoping to raise over £3,000.
The 40 year-old will be spending five nights with a group of other fund-raisers on a trail that will take him around the Atlas Mountains, through desert terrain and finally to the ancient city of Marrakech.
Mr Base said: “Whatever trials and tribulations we encounter, I’m absolutely resolved to make as much money as I can for the hospice."
