BABIES and toddlers across the district have the opportunity to learn to speak French or Spanish after a Bromsgrove mum-of-two launched new language courses in the town.
Qualified language teacher Andrea Longley, a former cover supervisor at Aston Fields Middle School, was inspired to launch her Lingotot business after seeing her own son learn French at nursery.
“I want to go back to teaching languages and I also want to fit it around bringing up my two boys, so I thought about starting my own business.”
Now she has taken up the Lingotot franchise which covers Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch.
Youngsters learn the languages through songs, stories and games and parents are encouraged to join in and understand the languages too.
Language lessons are being introduced from the age of five from September 2014 and the Lingotot sessions also link to Key Stage 1 and 2 level.
Lessons are also available for schools which do not have their own language teachers.
“Studies have shown that children learn languages best from a young age.
“Those who can speak different languages have much better opportunities, so it’s a great idea.
“Young children pick it up so much more quickly,” added Andrea.
Andrea is now offering taster sessions and classes.
