THE MAN who died on Monday morning (September 2) after being hit by a lorry on the M5 has been named.
Formal identification of the body has revealed it was John Wood, 59, of Birch Mews, Adel, Leeds.
Mr Wood was on foot on the southbound carriageway, between junction 5 (Droitwich) and junction 6 (Worcester), at around 7.40am.
This morning (Thursday), his family paid tribute to him through a statement issued by the police.
They said: “John was a loving husband and father and will be very much missed.
"The family now request that they be left alone to grieve in peace."
Central Motorway Police Group have urged any witnesses or anyone with any information to call officers on 0121 626 1289.
The Worcestershire Coroner will open an inquest into his death in the coming days.
