TWO men have appeared in court charged with robbing and kidnapping the driver of a cash in transit lorry.
Leon Bell, 37 and from Greenvale Avenue in Sheldon, and 49-year-old John Wall from, Bromford Lane, Washford Heath, were arrested shortly after the incident on Thursday (August 15) at Hopwood Service Station on Junction 2 of the M5.
The pair were charged on Saturday (August 17) and were remanded in custody after appearing at Worcester Magistrates Court today (Monday).
Bell did not apply for bail, but Wall had his application rejected and both will now appear at Worcester Crown Court on November 25.
Police have appealed for witnesses and are still investigating the robbery which happened around 1.15pm.
The stolen Mercedes cash in transit lorry was initially driven in convoy with a black Audi estate and white Ford Transit van from Hopwood to Alvechurch Railway Station.
Detectives are particularly keen to speak to a man and a woman who were approached for directions by the occupants of the Audi.
Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
