FUGITIVE John Anslow who has been on the run since last January when he was sprung from a prison escort van in Tardebigge has been recaptured in Northern Cyprus

The 32-year-old was on his way to Stafford Crown Court from HMP Hewell when his escape took place.

Anslow was arrested in the Alancak for immigration offences on Wednesday (March 13) and deported by the Turkish Cypriot authorities.

He was then arrested this morning (Saturday) at Heathrow Airport and has now been transferred to a high-security prison.

He will appear via video link at Stafford Crown Court on Monday (March 18) for failing to appear at court in January 2012.

He is charged with the murder of Richard Deakin in Chasetown, Staffordshire, in July 2010. Mr Deakin's family have been updated about the latest developments.

In the past three weeks, nine men have been arrested and charged by West Mercia Police in connection with Anslow's escape.
