THE MANAGER of a Bromsgrove charity shop targeted by heartless raiders who stole more than £300 has described the burglary as 'sickening'.
The YMCA store on Bromsgrove Business Bark, Birmingham Road, was broken into at some time between 5.10pm on Thursday (March 14) and 9am Friday (March 15).
Thieves forced their way through the front door damaging it in the process and used tools to brake open the till stealing £291 worth of takings. They also took a red collection tub containing £20.
West Mercia Police confirmed officers were called out to the shop and are studying CCTV footage to try and track the suspects.
Jill Borne, 47, manager of the YMCA shop, said she was shocked when she found out her shop had been burgled.
"I can't believe somebody would want to rob a charity store, it's sickening.
"People give a lot of time and effort to raise money for a charitable cause.
"We don't take a lot of money anyway, so why target us? It is just disgusting."
Jill opened the store in February last year and said it had become very personal to her.
She said the incident left her feeling horrible and everyone had been walking round in a 'daze' since it happened.
After locking up herself on Thursday she said she no longer felt safe in the store and did not want to be left alone there while closing in the future.
Any witnesses or anyone with any information should call Bromsgrove Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
