Hi: 23° Lo:10° 7 day

THERE will be plenty of creative fun for all the family when a variety of free activities are held in South Birmingham as part of the Northfield Arts March.
The first sessions will take place between 11am and 3pm next Saturday (March 16) at Bournville College.
There will be a Big Draw, co-ordinated by students from the college, and Doodling with Thread, overseen by textile artist Emma Ricketts. She will be helping participants make their own wall art in a frame to take home.
There will also be play and experimenting with threading and knotting techniques.
Junk Sculpture Percussion with Oliver Armstrong will see a massive percussion instrument being built out of recycled materials.
And there will be Picturing Longbridge where those who go along will be asked to nominate images they think sum up the area - from people and places to landmarks and roadsigns.
Participants need to take pictures of their subjects on cameras or mobile phones and the prints will be used to build a photographic portrait.
Then the following Saturday (March 23), there will be similar Arts March sessions at Northfield Library - again from 11am to 3pm.
The Doodling with Thread with textile artist Emma Ricketts will be held, along with The Big Draw with Bournville College students and Northfield Arts Forum.
That will see participants create a picture of Northfield from their perspective.
Other activities at the Northfield Library event include puppet-making with Sally Harper, using materials such as paper, fabric and clothing, and ‘Write, Draw, Record’, which challenges those taking part to put together a story.
